Changing The Future of Die Casting Leads to the Change of Metal AM of Mold Manufacturing
As the status of the application of metal AM technology to aluminum die-casting molds, we will introduce our in-house integrated production system and examples of successes and failures to date. In addition, we will introduce three projects we are working on for "standardization of AM technology specifications in die design".
Challenges of Adopting Large Metal Powder Bed Fusion Printers
The metal powder bed fusion market has slowed down in the last few years to about half the growth rates seen even 5 years ago. This market is changing with the addition of new size ranges and a shift towards multi-laser systems. The large frame market (>350mm) has been slower to grow but has great potential. Our observation is that potential new entrants are held back by the cost and risk of adopting printers in this category. This presentation will identify the main costs and risks of adoption. These can be mitigated with new business models, flexible systems, and consulting/technical support to ease the pain of adoption and get the industry back on a high growth curve.
A Multi-Grid Modeling approach to thermomechanical simulation of AM parts
Additive Manufacturing (AM) parts frequently encounter residual stress induced failures (e.g. distortion, cracking, and recoater-jams) due to the plastic-deformation. Existing FEA models can predict and avoid these failures but are limited in accuracy and do not scale to the size and complexity of modern AM parts. In this presentation, a novel Multi-Grid Modeling (MGM) approach to thermomechanical AM process simulation is presented, which simultaneously solves both the accuracy and scalability challenges. MGM solves the transient FEA problem on a series of intermediate grids, with the solution for each grid combined to form a high accuracy fine grid solution.
Software-defined inspection with industrial X-ray CT
Manufacturers are under enormous pressure to deliver products faster, at higher quality and lower cost than ever. In order to adapt, they need new digital technologies that offer better insight into how their product designs and manufacturing systems perform.
In this presentation, Lumafield Co-Founder and Head of Product Andreas Bastian will show how industrial X-ray CT gives engineers unprecedented information on their products. In a single quick scan, engineers can verify an assembly, search for casting flaws, find inclusions in plastic components, and measure invisible internal features.
While industrial CT technology has been available for decades, it's only become cost-effective for a wide range of applications in the last two years, and has even more recently become a production-scale technology, able to run as an in-line inspection solution in high-volume manufacturing environments.
Sustainable Manufacturing for a Circular Economy
Continuum Powders is at the forefront of the shift towards a circular economy, focusing on resource efficiency and waste minimization. This presentation will cover key concepts of the circular economy, how Continuum integrates sustainability through recycled raw materials and energy-efficient processes, and our innovative powder technologies for advanced manufacturing. It will also highlight waste reduction strategies and lifecycle extension, with real-world applications in industries like aerospace and automotive. Attendees will learn how sustainable manufacturing drives the transition to an environmentally conscious economy.

Mass Production of AM as a Business
Focusing only on technical skills doesn't lead to profit, and relying on one-off prototype orders isn't sustainable. The key to solving these issues is the commercialization of AM (Additive Manufacturing). To turn technical expertise into a profitable business, securing mass production orders is crucial. This presentation will also discuss the essential quality assurance system based on a quality management system needed for mass production.
